ORONO, Maine -- Eleven Black Bears qualified for and competed in the finals on day two of Friday's America East Championship swimming events at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After two days of competition, Maine remains in fourth place with 160 points.
Maine's 200-yard freestyle relay team of McDonald, Lindsley, Blair and Borger had a strong showing in the event, earning the silver medal and breaking the UMaine school-record with a runner-up time of 1:33.43, missing the title by just .12.
Juliana McDonald captured the top individual finish for Maine on day two, placing third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.61.
Emma Blair followed McDonald in the event, placing seventh at 23.85.
Emily Borger, racing in the 'B' final, finished ninth at 23.91 and was joined by
Tessa Lindsley in 13th at 24.18.
Lilli Wiseman joined the crew, competing in the 'C' final with a 20th place finish at 24.57.
Sabrina Nuttall rounded out the six Black Bears who competed in the 50-yard free finals, touching the wall 23rd at 24.63.
Shayla-Rose Kleisinger was strong in the distance event, finishing fifth with a time of 4:59.71.
Alison Brodt also competed in the 500-yard free final, touching the wall eighth at 5:07.56. Beatrix Lavigue checked in 21st in the event with a final time of 5:14.57.
Megan McGillivray competed in the 'C' final of the 200-yard IM, finishing 18th at 2:10.59.
Hannah Deschenes also competed in the 200-yard IM, coming in 21st at 2:11.89.
The America East Championships move into day three on Saturday, starting with prelim action at 10 a.m. before the finals get underway at 6 p.m.
