ORONO, Maine – The Black Bears fended off the Catamounts to a 2-0 shutout on Saturday afternoon, followed up with a 2-2 overtime draw on Sunday.
Brooke Stacey and Tereza Vanisova were an unstoppable pair on the ice, helping each other achieve a goal and assist in each game. Maine will venture to Vermont to face the Catamounts on their home ice for their third consecutive game and final meeting of the regular season.

Between both games against the Black Bears, sophomore Sydney Scobee registered a total of 67 saves. She held off four scoring opportunities in overtime on Sunday, to help the Catamounts battle to a draw. After playing in 13 games so far this season, Scobee has earned a respectable .924 save percentage.
Vermont stepped up their game after getting shut down on Saturday, as senior Kourtney Menches was in the right play at the right time, finding a wide open net in front of her and a puck that strayed from its original course. Halfway through the third period, senior Taylor Willard put the Catamounts back on top after the Black Bears had tied up the score, to take a 2-1 lead with 10:36 remaining. Four different players handed out assists between the two goals including freshman Kristinia Shanahan for her sixth of the season as she leads her class in points with eight, tying for third overall.

Sophomore
Carly Jackson earned her second shutout of the season as the Black Bears cruised past the Catamounts in the first game of the series. She earned 17 saves to help protect the shutout. In the second game, Jackson gave up two unlucky goals while stopping 15 shots to achieve the overtime draw.
Sophomore Tereza Vanisova posted back-to-back games putting away Maine's first goal of the game, then adding on a helper on their second goal, to earn four points over the weekend against Vermont. She remains in the top three for the most assists so far this season, in Division I women's hockey, with 21. This was her fourth consecutive game recording two points.
Freshman defender Anna Zikova helped secure the 2-0 shutout against Vermont after tucking the puck into the net just 18 seconds into the second period for Maine's second goal of the game and the second goal of her collegiate career.
Senior
Brooke Stacey one-timed the game-tying goal with under five minutes to go in regulation on Sunday to help the Black Bears advance to overtime and capture a point. The day prior, she grabbed a helper on each goal scored to reach 11 total assists so far this season.
