Women's Hockey to Spend Thanksgiving Weekend at Union

ORONO, Maine – Sophomore Carley Jackson and senior Brooke Stacey dominated the ice on Sunday afternoon, shutting out Northeastern, 2-0, as they improved their overall record to 9-6-1 (4-3-1 WHEA).
 
This upcoming weekend will be the first time Maine has traveled to the Messa Rink in three years, holding an impressive 3-0-1 record against the Dutchmen in the past two years.

Coming off a week of rest, the Dutchmen will have fresh legs for Thanksgiving weekend. The Union women battled Quinnipiac into overtime two weeks ago, but the Bobcats struck first taking down the Dutchmen 4-3 just one minute into overtime. The following day, Union dropped a match to Princeton on the road, 3-0.
 
Freshman Sierra Lee potted a pair of goals in the matchup against Quinnipiac, for her first collegiate goals. Sophomore Katelyn Russ scored the Dutchmen's second goal of the game while six different players helped out with assists.
 
Freshman Coco Francis played both games in net, registered a career high 48 saves. Between both games, the rookie accumulated 77 saves.

Jackson blanked Northeastern with a 28-save victory on Sunday, for her first shutout of the season and second in her career. Between both games against the Huskies, the sophomore registered a total of 51 saves. In the Women's Hockey East Conference, Jackson holds the sixth best goals against average.
 
Knocking in both goals to clinch the victory was Stacey with her sixth and seventh goals of the season, putting her in the lead for the most scored so far this season on her team. Freshman Maggie Blair registered her first NCAA assist to help grab the win, while sophomore Tereza Vanisova continued to rack up the assists, dishing out her 17th of the year. She currently is tied for sixth place in total points in Hockey East action.
