The Black Bears struggled through a week against the top two teams in the WHEA Conference, the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and No. 3 Boston College (BC). Freshman Michelle Weis opened up scoring early in the match against UNH on a power play for her first NCAA goal, but the Black Bears fell behind when the Wildcats retaliated netting two goals. Maine attempted to find the back of the net to tie up the match as they fell, 2-1 on Saturday.
Sophomore Lydia Murray and Senior Catherine Tufts both tallied goals against BC late in the game to cut the score deficit, but the momentum wasn't enough to stop the Eagles from taking the win. Freshman Loryn Porter started in net for the Black Bears stopping seven shots while sophomore Carly Jackson closed out the weekend playing in both games to accumulate a total of 45 saves between both games. Three players registered assists throughout the weekend including, sophomores Vendula Pribylova and Brittany Kucera, and senior Brooke Stacey. The Black Bears enter into this weekend series with a 5-4-0 overall record (1-2-0 WHEA).
