ORONO, Maine -- The Black Bears are coming off a huge victory last weekend, after taking down No. 9 Quinnipiac, 4-2, to split the first weekend of games this season. Maine women's ice hockey is looking to ride that momentum over to New York as they take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for their first series on the road.

RPI enters into the matchup with an overall record of 0-2-0 this season and has yet to play any conference matches. Senior forward Whitney Renn currently possesses the lone goal for her team, putting in a rebound off of assists from senior forward Shayna Tomlinson and sophomore forward Blake Orosz, in a 4-1 fall to Ohio State in their season opener. The Engineers took another defeat to the Buckeyes, 4-0, the next day on Saturday, September 30.
Starting goaltender, Lovisa Selander, returned for her third year in net for the Engineers, starting off her season making 73 saves in the first two games for a .901 save percentage. In her career so far, she's started in 67 of the 69 games she's seen playing time, recording a .927 career save percentage.

The Black Bears come into the game with a 1-1-0 overall record, after taking down No. 9 Quinnipiac in a 4-2 victory. Tied for the lead in points for Maine, are sophomore Tereza Vanisova with one goal and two assists and freshman
Michelle Weis with three assists. Vanisova picked up all three points in the second game against the Bobcats while Weis contributed the only assist for the Black Bears on Friday night, and then dished out two more on Saturday for the win. Freshman Anna Zikova and sophomore
Brittany Kucera, both scored their first collegiate goals this past weekend. Another milestone this week was for senior
Brooke Stacey who played in her 100th career game at Maine with the win over Quinnipiac.
Over the past weekend,
Carly Jackson recorded a .929 save percentage to improve her career save percentage to .913. The sophomore stopped 52 shots throughout the two games. She has started in 27 of 29 games played in her collegiate career.
