ORONO, Maine -- A promising freshman for the Maine Black Bears, Michelle Weis, was awarded with this season's first Women's Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week honor. 

Weis helped the Maine Black Bears to a split with No. 9 Quinnipiac, including Maine's first win (4-2) over the Bobcats since 2011. Her three assists on the weekend marked her first collegiate points after a two-goal, two-assist exhibition outing on Sept. 22. The rookie tallied the lone assist in the 2-1 loss on Friday night against Quinnipiac, then added two assists in Saturday's win to help Maine dominate the ice early with a 2-0 lead. 

The Black Bears will be traveling to RPI on Friday, Oct. 7 for their first weekend series on the road with puck drop at 6:00 p.m.
