Burlington, Vermont- The Maine women's ice hockey team dropped game one of a two game weekend series, against the Vermont Catamounts, on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Bears came out strong, scoring early in the first period, as
Tereza Vanisova netted a goal 3:47 in to the matchup. Assists came from
Vendula Pribylova and
Brittany Colton.
The Catamounts scored twice in the second. The first came 2:01 in to the period, from Sarah Kelly. Bridget Baker scored shortly after, to end the period at 2-1.
Kelly added another one for the Catamounts 9:35 in to the third. Alyssa Gorecki closed out the scoring, to give Vermont a 4-1 victory.
Carly Jackson was in net for the Black Bears, making 35 saves.
Maine falls to 6-13-1 on the season and 2-9-1 in Hockey East, while Vermont improves to 9-7-5 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play.
The two teams face each other again on Sunday, at 2pm, in Burlington, Vermont, at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
