ORONO, Maine- The Women's Ice Hockey team will be traveling to Durham, New Hampshire this weekend, to take on the UNH Wildcats, in a weekend series.
The two teams last met in November, during Thanksgiving Break, when they skated to a 2-2 tie, in Auburn, Maine.
The Black Bears, are headed into the matchup having swept the Northeastern Huskies, who maintain the number two seed, in the competitive Hockey East standings. The four-point weekend appeared to be a true team effort, as 10 players managed to get on the scoreboard. Leading the pack were Sophomore
Alyson Matteau (2-3-5), Junior
Brooke Stacey (2-3-5), and Freshman
Tereza Vanisova (2-1-3). Freshman goaltender,
Carly Jackson, was a defensive staple stopping 65 of 69 shots on the weekend, for a save percentage of .942.
Game one will be played on Friday at 7pm, followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup at 4pm.
The Black Bears return home the following weekend, to host the Providence College Friars on Saturday and Sunday, the latter being the Skating Strides game, presented by FairPoint Communications. Both games will be held at Alfond Arena, at 2pm.
