ORONO, MAINE- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams matched up against Bowdoin College, on Saturday, for their first meet back in Orono, since winter break.
On the Women's side, the Black Bears saw 26 top three finishes. This included first place wins by
Emma Blackdeer in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.92),
Victoria Kingston in the 100-yard butterfly (59.92),
Alison Brodt in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.65) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:23),
Juliana McDonald in the 100-yard freestyle (53.71),
Megan McGillivray in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.24), as well as a top finish by a 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of
Rita Chen,
Meghan O'Neill,
Emily Borger, and
Emma Pontius (1:43.75).
The Men had 23 top three finishers. This included first place wins by
Connor Mayhew in the 100-yard backstroke (55.64),
Eric Delmonte in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.78) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.92), Nick Sundquist in the 100-yard butterfly (53.04) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.69),
Kevin Clyne in the 50-yard freestyle (22.01) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.75), and
Jake Gutkes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.66).
The Women's team will return to action and stay home, to host UNH, on Friday, January 27th at 5pm, shortly followed by regrouping with the Men's team to host Providence on Saturday, January 28th at 11am. Both meets will be held at the Stanley M. Wallace Pool.
