Women's Hockey Announces O'Grady and Langlois as Assistant Coaches

Maine Women's Ice Hockey welcomes two new members to the coaching staff.

ORONO, Maine –Mike O'Grady comes to the University of Maine after having spent the past two seasons with Mercyhurst University. While at Mercyhurst, Mike served as the assistant coach with their women's ice hockey program.  Mike's duties with the women's hockey program included strength and conditioning, goaltender development, daily practice planning, game day decisions, in game video coach, coordination of the team's meals, travel arrangements, and marketing.

Prior to Mercyhurst Mike spent three years as the assistant coach with John Carroll University's ACHA D1 Men's Program. Mike was in charge of recruiting, equipment managing, positional development, video coaching, marketing and social justice programing for the team. He also participated in daily practice planning and game day decisions. Mike's hard work and dedication at John Carroll University helped the team reach their first ACHA National tournament in school history.

Also, Mike has been donating his time helping numerous youth hockey organizations, by working with goaltenders and teaching skill development, and power skating lessons. Mike graduated from John Carroll University in 2014 with a Bachelors of arts in Exercise Science, And holds a Masters of arts and science from Mercyhurst University in Organizational Leadership.

Brooklyn Langlois joins the coaching staff after playing four years for the Black Bears. 

During her playing career at the University of Maine she played in a total of 127 games and tallied 26 points, including a short-handed goal in the final playoff game against Boston College in 2016. The former defensemen served as a captain her senior year and was voted the recipient of the Maggie Rudnicki Award of 2015-2016 season and the Rookie of the Year Award in the 2012-2013 season.

Brooklyn was selected as part of the Hockey East All-Academic Team and a University of Maine Academic Scholar throughout her four years. She studied Biology and contributed to the community as mentor to other student athletes and through the UMaine Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Prior to attending the University of Maine, Brooklyn Langlois, a native of Steinbach, MB played three years for the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy in Kelowna, BC.
