Women's Soccer Loses Close Game at UMass

Women's soccer loses their second single-goal game in a row.

Box Score AMHERST, Massachusetts - The Black Bears Women's Soccer team traveled to UMass on Saturday and failed to score a goal, dropping the contest 1-0.

This is the second loss in a row where the Black Bears lost by only 1 goal, for their second loss on the season.

UMass controlled the game early and didn't let up, outshooting the Black Bears in the first half 5-1, with a total count of 16-8. However, the Black Bears did have more shots on net, with 6 to UMass' 4. 

The lone goal was scored 22:26 into the game by Gabriela Kenyon, assisted by Salma Anastasio, on a shot from the right flank.

Maine goalkeeper Annalena Kriebisch faced 4 shots in the contest and saved 3 of them. Her record falls to 3-2-0 on the season.

On the other side of the field, Cassidy Babin stopped all 6 Maine shots on goal, improving her record to 2-2-0 with the shutout.

Maine is back in action again Friday, September 9th, at 4pm against Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.
