Field Hockey Opens America East Conference Play against UMass Lowell and Albany

The Black Bears square off against UMass Lowell September 30 and Albany October 2

ORONO, Maine -- Maine field hockey travels on the road to take on UMass Lowell on September 30 at 7:00 p.m. On October 2, the Maine stays on the road to play Albany for their first matchup of the season against the Great Danes at 1:00 p.m.

Maine 

  • The Black Bears matchup vs. UMass Lowell is the first America East Conference game this season for the Maine.
  • The Black Bears moved down a spot in the top 20 and are now ranked at #20 in the National Ranks.
  • Ranked fourth in the country in points per game with 11.90.
  • Ranked second in the country in assists per game with 4.10.
  • Maine is eighth the country in goals per game with 3.90 per.
  • Tied for ninth in the country in scoring margin, 2.20 average.
  • Lost to Harvard 3-1 on Sept. 25. Second loss in three games for the Black Bears.
  • Three Black Bears have been named America East player of the week, with Libby Riedl, Madison Cummings, and Casey Crowley all respectively winning one each in the first three weeks of the season.
  • Madison Cummings is ranked tenth in the country scoring 1.00 goals per game, she leads the Black Bears with 10 goals on the season scoring a total of 21 points.
     

UMass Lowell

  • In their last game against the Black Bears in 2015, the Riverhawks lost by a score of 2-0.
  • The Riverhawks are 3-5 this season with Maine being their first America East opponent all year.
  • Anouk Lalande leads the team in points scored this season with 16 (six goals).
  • Torrie Huk is second on the team in points scored with 14 (six goals).


Albany

  • Entering with a 5-4 record, face off against UNH on September 30.
