Box Score BOSTON, Mass. -- Maine field hockey shuts out UC Davis 6-0 Saturday afternoon in a neutral site matchup at Boston University's New Balance Field.
Casey Crowley highlighted the day for the Black Bears with a hat-trick, the second hat-trick by a UMaine player this season.
Madison Cummings,
Libby Riedl and
Samantha Wagg each had a goal of their own on the day.
The Black Bears now improve their record to 5-1 on they year, while UC Davis falls to 1-4 on the season.
Emily Corbett started in goal for Maine and Beth Lee for UC Davis.
For the fifth game this season, Maine scored the first goal of the game 1:24 in from
Madison Cummings, her ninth of the season giving Maine an early 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later,
Libby Riedl notched her fourth goal of the season off of a corner inserted by
Ella Mosky to give Maine a 2-0 advantage.
Maine out shot UC Davis 10-4 in the first half.Â
Emma Cochran took over in goal for the Black Bears in the second half.
Ten minutes into the second half,
Casey Crowley capitalized off of a rebound to give Maine their third goal of the game and a 3-0 lead.
Maine was awarded a penalty corner at 52:47, seconds later
Casey Crowley scored once again on a corner with the assist coming from
Samantha Wagg as Maine took a commanding 4-0 lead.
After assisting on the previous goal, Wagg scored one for herself assisted by Crowley off of another penalty corner giving Maine a 5-0 lead.
Crowley scored her third of the day with no time on the clock on another penalty corner opportunity as Maine closed out the game 6-0.
Emily Corbett earned the win.
Maine returns to action next Friday as the Black Bears host Bryant September 16 at 4:00 p.m.
