Anetra Byfield scored goals just 26-seconds apart in the first half as the University of Maine picked up its first win of the season, defeating LIU Brooklyn 2-0 on Friday evening.

The Black Bears outshot LIU Brooklyn by a 10-8 advantage while the Black Birds attempted six corner kicks to Maine's four.
Evans scored the first goal of Maine's season at the 20:28 mark of the first half. Evans' second goal her her career was set up by
Vivien Beil off a free kick.
Byfield gave the Black Bears a 2-0 advantage with her goal, which came 20:54 into the half. The sophomore's goal was unassisted after she capitalized on a shot over the keeper's head from 30-yards out.
Maine goes for its second win on the young season when it travels to take on Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m.
