Men's Basketball Travels to Dartmouth

The matchup is the 25th meeting between the two teams

ORONO, Maine - The Black Bears are coming off a victory against Holy Cross at home and now go on the road to try and win 2 in a row as they face Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.


SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears are coming off a 55-53 victory over Holy Cross at Cross Insurance Center this past Wednesday; Ilker Er and Ryan Bernstein both went 4-8 from deep for 12 points each to help the Black Bears get an early lead and maintain it throughout the game. Er also contributed 5 rebounds, Bernstein added a career-high 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Andrew Fleming contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds, along with 2 assits and a block.

Transfer Wes Myers leads Maine in scoring at 12.2 points per game. Myers has finished with double-figures in six of Maine's first nine outings. Myers ranks third on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game and  2nd on the team in assists per game with 2.3. Andrew Fleming is adding 9.6 points and is Maine's leader on the boards, averaging 5.6 per game to sit him 11th in the league. The freshman big man has controlled the paint for Maine as he is 5th in the league with seven blocks. Ilker Er after his career night at Duke scoring 20 points, and his 12 point performance against Holy Cross, is adding 11.2 points/game and is Maine's deep-threat, ranking second in the league with 25 makes from beyond the arc.

As a unit, the Black Bears are averaging 70 ponts per game. Maine ranks third in the league in assist/turnover ratio (1.1) and third in total assists per game (13.4). Maine has been solid on the offensive glass, checking in 80th in the nation and 2nd in conference at 12.78 per game.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green come into this matchup with an 0-7 record with games against Boston College, Rhode Island, and most recently America East's Vermont, which saw the Catamounts taking down Dartmouth 73-58. For the Big Green, Evan Bourdeaux led the way with a double-double, 10 points on 5-14 shooting, and 10 rebounds. He also added 2 steals and a block. Miles Wright chipped in with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal; he went 2-2 from the free-throw line.

Bourdeaux leads all scorers for the Big Green this season with 17 points per game, while also tallying an 8.7 rebounds per game average, and averaging a steal per game. Guilien Smith has 10.6 points per game for Dartmouth, 3.3 rebounds per game, and 1.3 assists per game. ALL-TIME SERIES
Maine and Dartmouth have faced each other regularly over the last few seasons, playing a total of 22 games against each other, with Dartmouth leading the all time series, 12 wins to 10. Their first meeting was way back in 1975, on January 8th, when The Big Green hosted Maine, and Maine took the victory 87-86. Maine's last victory against the Big Green came on December 13th, 2005, when Maine hosted Dartmouth and took the contest 64-55.

The two teams faced off most recently last season at Maine, where Dartmouth traveled up to Bangor and took down the Black Bears 79-69; for Maine, Ryan Bernstein led the way with 13 points on 5-10 shooting (1-3 from three), 6 rebounds, 8 assists and a steal.  For Dartmouth, Miles Wright led the team with 19 points on 6-13 shooting (2-6 from behind the arc), an assist and a block, and he was 5-7 from the free throw line.
