Women's Soccer Nipped in America East Semifinal at Hartford, 1-0

W. HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of Maine women's soccer season came to an end on Sunday, Nov. 1 as the Black Bears dropped a 1-0 decision at Hartford in the America East semifinals.

Hartford finished the contest with a 14-2 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kick chances.

Senior Charlene Achille had both shots for the Black Bears, one of which was on net.

Neither team was able to score in the opening half as the Hawks outshot Maine 8-1 in the opening 45-minutes.

Hartford broke the scoreless tie in the 72nd minute on Elise Galipo's first goal of the season. Galipo beat Maine goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe on a shot from the left side of the box to the inside of the far post.

The Hawks held on, keeping Maine off the scoreboard and taking the America East semifinal match, 1-0.

Dube-Trempe finished the game with three saves.

The Black Bears end their season at 9-8-2 overall.
