ORONO, Maine – University of Maine officials have announced that Katie Peverada has been elevated to the role of assistant athletic director for communications.

Peverada, who served as associate director of communications at UMaine from Oct. 2023 through July of 2025, oversees the communications efforts of the women's soccer program, the men's ice hockey team, and the softball program while assisting with strategic content creation and communication plans department wide.

During her second stint at UMaine, Peverada has led the communications efforts for three America East women's soccer championships and a men's Hockey East title. She served a key role in the decision making for the interior branding of the newly renovated Shawn Walsh Hockey Center and Alfond Arena and guided the department's rollout and unveiling of the New Balance Track & Field and Soccer Complex. Peverada has also served on several hiring and planning committees, including taking a lead role in the preparation and execution of Abby Kraemer's women's soccer jersey retirement event.

Prior to rejoining the Maine staff, Peverada spent five years as the associate director of communications at Boston College, working primarily with women's ice hockey and women's soccer while overseeing BCEagles.com. She also worked with the national championship lacrosse team, men's soccer, fencing, rowing and football gameday operations in her time at BC.

Before her stint at Boston College, Peverada served one year as the Assistant Director of Communications at the University of Maine as the primary contact for men's ice hockey, women's soccer and baseball.

After graduating from Boston University in 2016, Peverada was the Multimedia Coordinator for Cornell University where she served as the primary contact for nine varsity sports, including the nationally ranked and NCAA Tournament teams of women's ice hockey and women's lacrosse. Additionally, she served as a statistician for the International Ice Hockey Federation at the 2017 Women's World Championships in Plymouth, Mich. While a student at Boston University, Peverada worked in the athletic communications office and also served as a communications volunteer at Beanpot tournaments, NCAA Frozen Fours and Hockey East Tournaments.
