ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team split a doubleheader with UMass Lowell on home opening day at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, the teams traded runs in the second frame … UMass Lowell took a 1-0 lead on a throwing error and then Maine did the same in the home half of the inning, equalizing the game at 1-1 on a throwing error.
- The teams then played four consecutive scoreless innings before the River Hawks used double down the right field line to go up, 2-1.
- Maine went down in order in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.

How it Happened
- UMass Lowell loaded the bases in the top of the first but Alysen Rieth got out of the jam … Rieth then stranded two runners in both the top of the second and the top of the third to keep the game at 0-0.
- Maine went up 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Keira Inman's single of the middle plated both Maggie Helms and Neve Adams.
- In the top of the seventh, Rieth recorded all three outs herself in the field to earn the complete game shutout victory.

- Alysen Rieth started in the circle, earning a complete-game shutout while allowing seven hits.
- Five different Black Bears recorded a hit while Keira Inman was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
