ORONO, Maine – The ninth-ranked Providence College Friars topped the #17 University of Maine men's ice hockey team, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday night at Alfond Arena.

The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, with
Justin Poirier potting his 18th goal of the season. The Friars responded four minutes later.
Loic Usereau would put Maine back up off of feeds from
Thomas Freel and
Thomas Pichette.

Maine's 2-1 lead would hold until the final minute of the third period, with Providence scoring to force overtime and then Logan Sawyer finding the back of the net at the 3:24 mark of the overtime period.
