
Women's hockey announces 2026-27 schedule

Maine will host 17 regular season contests at Alfond Arena.
ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey program has announced its schedule for the 2026-27 season. The 34-game schedule includes one exhibition contest, 24 Hockey East conference matchups, and 10 non-conference battles. This season will be the first under newly named head coach Alex Gettens.

After a home preseason tune-up with a Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle against New Hampshire on Sept. 19, the Black Bears open the regular season with a four-game non-conference homestand. The first two will come against Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26. The following weekend, the Black Bears will host St. Lawrence on Oct. 1-2.
Next, Maine will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to face Minnesota on Oct. 9 and Bemidji State on Oct. 10 in the Minnesota East/West Showcase. The Black Bears continue the road trip with a non-conference series against RPI in Troy, N.Y., Oct. 16-17.
After a bye weekend Oct. 23-24, the Black Bears will open up Hockey East play at Alfond Arena against Providence on Oct. 30-31 before traveling to Boston University for a pair of games Nov. 6-7. Maine returns home to host Holy Cross on Nov. 13-14, then travels to face Northeastern on Nov. 20-21.
Maine will have another bye weekend over Thanksgiving. The Black Bears will close out the first semester with a Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle against New Hampshire at Alfond Arena on Dec. 4-5.
The 2027 calendar year begins on the road with a New Year's Day matchup against Dartmouth before Maine continues Hockey East play at the defending Hockey East champions UConn on Jan. 8-9.
The Black Bears return home to host Vermont on Jan. 15-16 before traveling to Merrimack on Jan. 22-23. Maine then returns to Alfond Arena for a three-game Hockey East homestand, beginning Jan. 29-30 against Boston College. The homestand concludes with a matchup against UConn on Feb. 4.
The Black Bears then embark on a three-game road trip, visiting Vermont on Feb. 6, Holy Cross on Feb. 12 and Providence on Feb. 13. Maine closes the regular season with home games against Northeastern on Feb. 18 and Merrimack on Feb. 20.
The Opening Round of the Hockey East Playoffs is scheduled to begin on Feb. 24.
