VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of Maine softball team saw its season come to an end on Thursday night on the second day of day of the 2025 America East Championship, falling to Bryant at the Bearcat Sports Complex.

How it Happened

Maine took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Gabby Papushka doubled to centerfield, scoring Bailey Snowberger.
The Black Bears then held Bryant scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the Bulldogs scored four unearned runs to take a 4-1 lead.
Bryant added an insurance run with a sixth-inning home run.

Game Notes

Madison Simmerman started, throwing all 6.0 innings … she allowed five runs – one earned – on nine hits.
Simmerman finished the tournament with a 1.87 earned run average and two complete games.
Gabby Papushka went 1-for-3 with a double … it was her 13th double of the season, setting a new career high.
Papushka finished the tournament hitting .444 with three doubles, one triple and nine runs batted in.
Bailey Snowberger earned two walks.
