Storrs, CT – The University of Maine baseball team fell in the second game against UConn on Saturday night.
Black Bear Scoring Breakdown:
Damon Gaither (2B) scored the first run for Maine in the fifth inning as he scored on an error by the UConn third basemen.
Dean O'Neill brought home the second run of the inning on a double down the left field line, scoring
Brody Rasmussen (E5).
Gaither plated the third run of the night on a single to left field, scoring
Drew Reynolds (BB).
Black Bear Pitchers:
Colin Fitzgerald (5-6) went 4 and 2/3 innings in the start allowing, 7 runs (6 earned) on 11 hits, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Owen Wheeler wrapped up the fifth inning as he retired the only batter he faced.
Tommy Martin went 2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Pierce Friedman pitched the final frame for Maine, allowing no runs on 1 walk.
UConn Recap:
The Huskies scored one run in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Thomas Ellisen (6-3) picked up the win on the mound.
