Alysen Rieth and Madison Simmerman delivered complete-game wins in Monday's doubleheader.
ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball took both games of a doubleheader against UMass Lowell to clinch a series win on Monday night at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex.

How it Happened
- In the home half of the first, Abby Rhee was hit by a pitch and then advanced to second on a wild pitch … Rhee then came around on a Bailey Snowberger single up the middle.
- The Black Bears left runners on base in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings but held the River Hawks at bay as well, stranding seven of their runners.
- Madison Simmerman allowed a single in the top of the seventh but got the game-ending ground out.
- Madison Simmerman threw all 7.0 innings, giving up four hits while striking out six and walking seven … it was her fourth win of the season.
- Bailey Snowberger went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one walk … Gabby Papushka was 1-for-3.
- Abby Rhee extended her reached base safely streak to 11 games.

How it Happened
- The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Gabby Papushka led off with a double and then scored four batters later on a bases loaded walk from Kyli Hernandez.
- The River Hawks scored one run in the fourth to tie the game and then took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Nora Campo earned a leadoff walk and then Keira Inman's pinch-run stolen base put the tying run in scoring position … Inman came around to tie the game on a Moran Pool single … Francesca Guerrera then singled through the right side to score the pinch runner, Kaly Thomas, for the 3-2 win.
- Alysen Rieth threw all 7.0 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
- Francesca Guerrera was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a double.
- Gabby Papushka was 1-for-3 with a double and one run scored while Morgan Pool was 1-for-3.
- With a 2-1 record in the series, Maine wins its first America East series since April 2021 at Binghamton.

- Maine will host close out the regular season next weekend with a three-game home series against Bryant.
