Andover, MA – The University of Maine baseball team took down Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon.
Black Bear Scoring Breakdown:
Maine jumped in front early with two runs in the first inning coming off of three-straight doubles.
Drew Reynolds drove in
Quinn Murphy (2B) before
Myles Sargent drove in Reynolds (2B).
Zach Martin extended the Maine lead in the second inning with his third home run of the season, this one being a solo shot to left field.
Martin made it a multi-home run game as he hit his second of the day in the top of the fourth inning, this one being a two-run shot to right field, scoring
Damon Gaither (1B).
Eric Wainwright singled home a run in the eighth as
Caleb Vacchiano (PR) came into score.
Chris Bear brought home a second run in the frame as he hit a sac-bunt back to the pitcher, scoring Martin (1B).

Jack Donlin got the start on the mound as he went 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Dylan Shaffer (1-2) was first out of the bullpen as he threw 1 inning, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.
Brennan Rumpf began the fifth on the mound as he allowed on runs on just 1 walk in the frame.
Prierce Friedman took over in the sixth inning as he pitched a perfect frame, striking out 1.
Owen Wheeler pitched the seventh frame, allowing 2 hits and striking out 1.
Tommy Martin came on for the eighth inning as he allowed 1 hit and struck out 1 in the frame.
Sebastian Holt (5) came on in the ninth for the save opportunity, which he converted, allowing 1 run on 1 hit in the frame.
