NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Maine softball team fell to the Central Connecticut Blue Devils on the final day of the Bulldog Invitational at 5K Corral Field at Dewitt Family Stadium.

How it Happened
- Maine went up 1-0 in the home half of the first inning when Immy Gie's pop fly was lost in the sun, allowing her to circle the bases for the inside the park home run.
- The Blue Devils responded in the top of the second when they loaded the bases and scored on an infield single to make it 1-1.
- The Black Bears went back up in the third frame when Kyrah Haba-Dailey came home on a Bailey Snowberger sacrifice fly.
- Central Connecticut loaded the bases again in the top of the fourth and then hit a two-out grand slam for a 5-2 lead and then added one more run in the fifth.
- In the sixth inning, Maine loaded the bases with two outs but couldn't manufacture any runs … the Black Bears then stranded one more runner in the seventh, unable to come back.
Game Notes
- Alysen Rieth started in the circle, throwing 4.0 innings while giving up five runs – one earned – on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks … Madison Simmerman allowed one run in 1.0 innings of work while Ava Zettlemoyer threw 2.0 innings of scoreless relief.
- Immy Gie (2-for-4) and Kyrah Haba-Dailey (2-for-3) had multi-hit games ... they scored both of Maine's runs.

- Maine will play a three-game series at Merrimack next weekend … a doubleheader is set for Saturday, March 15 with a single game slated for Sunday, March 16.
- The Black Bears will then travel to Iona for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 18.
- Maine will begin America East play at Bryant on Saturday, March 22.
