Arlington, VA – The University of Maine baseball team was defeated on Sunday afternoon by George Washington University.
Black Bears Scoring Breakdown:
Dean O'Neill put the Black Bears in front early as he hit a two-run home run to left field, his first of the season.
Brody Rasmussen (E9) scored on the play.
O'Neill opened up a five-run inning for the Black Bears in the third as he hit an RBI double to right field, scoring Rasmussen (BB) before
Zach Martin hit a grand slam to left field, his second home run of the series and season to make it 7-0 Black Bears in the early part of the game. O'Neill (2B),
Will Burns (BB) and
Payton Whitehead (1B) all scored on the play.
Drew Reynolds brought home a pair of runners on a triple to center field that scored both
Myles Sargent (1B) and
Chris Bear (HBP).

Luc Lavigueur earned his second start of the season on Sunday, where he lasted 4 innings, allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Gianni Gambardella was first out of the bullpen as he lasted 2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk.
Jason Libby began the seventh on the mound for Maine. He went 1 and 2/3 and allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk.
Owen Wheeler (0-1) was called on in the bottom of eighth inning with a runner on first and two outs. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in his 1/3 of an inning of work.
