Smithfield, RI – The University of Maine men's basketball program had their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they lost in the America East Championship Game.

Both sides started out the half strong on the defensive end as the score stood at 8-8 over 6 minutes in the half.

Maine kept it to a one-possession game until midway through the half when Bryant started to build up a slim lead, getting it all the way to double-digits at halftime, 38-27.

AJ Lopez led the way in scoring in the first half for Maine as he had 10 points.
Â
Quion Burns chipped in with 8 points and 3 rebounds.
Â
Bryant was able to pull away in the second half, ultimately winning their first America East Championship, 77-59 over the Black Bears.

Lopez finished with 20 points while
Kellen Tynes had 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.
Â
Maine concluded the season with a 20-14 record and their first championship appearance in 21 years.
AJ Lopez and
Kellen Tynes were both named to the All-Championship Team while
Killian Gribben was named the Elite 18 Award winner.
