Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Maine loses tight game to Boston College in Quarterfinals, 4-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The #6 seed Maine women's ice hockey team ends its season after dropping a close battle to #3 seed Boston College in the Hockey East Quarterfinals on Saturday night by a score of 4 to 3.

Senior captain Elise Morphy set the tone early with a coast-to-coast goal just four minutes into the game. With her final game tonight, Elise Morphy broke the program record of 157 games played in a Maine jersey. Ava Stevenson and Raegan Wurm tallied assists on Morphy's goal.

Heading into the second period tied 1-1, Mikayla Boarder sniped Maine's second goal to give them the lead again. Kendall Sundby and Jamie Grinder picked up the assists. A few minutes later, Boston College was able to sneak in two goals, one on a powerplay opportunity, to pull ahead. It wasn't long before senior defender Jamie Grinder evened up the score again, on a point-shot on the powerplay. Mira Seregely and Mikayla Boarded assisted.

The eventual game-winner came shortly after Maine's third goal, when the Eagles found the back of the net for a fourth time.

Despite the loss, Maine outshot the Eagles 28-27, led by Mikayla Boarder who had five shots on goal.

Goaltender Kiia Lahtinen made 23 saves for the Black Bears.
