Josh Nadeau made it 1-0 less than three minutes into the contest only to see the Catamounts equalize in the final minute of the period. The Black Bears built a 3-1 lead by the end of the second period thanks to goals from Nicholas Niemo and Owen Fowler.

Vermont made it a one-goal game five minutes into the third period but Thomas Pichette's goal at the 6:40 mark was enough to hold off another late Vermont strike.
