AMHERST, Mass. – The #5/4 University of Maine men's ice hockey team fell to #16/14 UMass, 5-1, on Friday night at the Mullins Center.

The Minutemen took a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game and then doubled it five minutes later with a power-play goal. UMass scored again in the final minute of the opening stanza. Another early-period tally in the second frame made it 4-0 Minutemen after two.

Charlie Russell got Maine on the board with his seventh of the season at the 4:19 mark of the third period but the Minutemen responded with a short-handed marker for the 5-1 final.
