MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Maine softball team picked up a win over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in the opening game of the 2025 Mardi Gras Classic before falling to Lipscomb in the second game on Friday afternoon at Jaguar Field.

How it Happened
- Kyrah Haba-Dailey started the game off with a 10-pitch at bat, earning a walk … Haba-Dailey and Gabby Papushka then both on a Francesca Guerrera single down the right field line.
- Haba-Dailey scored in the top of the third, coming home on an Immy Gie single.
- The Black Bears responded to an Islander's run in the bottom of the fourth with two runs in the top of the fifth thanks in part to  a Haba-Dailey double, Papushka triple and a Guerrera sacrifice fly.
- Maine pushed four runs across in the top of the sixth and held the Islanders off the board in the bottom of the sixth for the run-rule victory.
- The top of the sixth for Maine included an Eviana Robles double, Papushka two-run home run and singles from Kyli Hernandez and Bailey Snowberger.
Game Notes
- Madison Simmerman started, throwing 4.0 innings while allowing one run on three hits to earn her first career victory … Alysen Rieth threw 2.0 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief.
- Gabby Papushka was 3-for-4 with a triple, two-run home run and a single while Kyrah Haba-Dailey went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one walk.
- Francesca Guerrera was 1-for-3 with three RBI.
- Seven total Black Bears collected hits.

Score:Â Lipscomb 18, Maine 0

How it Happened
- After a scoreless opening inning and a half, the Bison exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the second frame.
- Lipscomb then added five more runs in the bottom of the third and didn't allowed the Black Bears to score in the fourth or fifth for the 18-0 run-rule final score.
Game Notes
- Abby Rhee recorded her first career hit with a single in the top of the fifth inning.
- Emma DeBoer made her Maine debut in the second inning.
