Orono, ME – The University of Maine men's basketball team fell to Vermont on Saturday in a close contest in Orono.

Maine fell behind by 15 points in the first half before they started to find their rhythm offensively, trimming the early deficit down to just six points at halftime as the score stood at 28-22.

Kellen Tynes led the way with 9 points in the first half. He added on 2 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal.

Quion Burns had 5 points and 3 rebounds while four other Black Bears had 2 points.

Vermont pushed the lead back to double-digits at a game-high 16 points with 14:54 remaining in the contest before Maine slowly started chipping away, but were unable to retake the lead as Vermont was able to hold on at the end, 65-61.

Tynes finshed with 19 points while Burns finished one rebound shy a double-double as he had 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Jaden Clayton ended with 7 points and 5 assists while
Killian Gribben and
Christopher Mantis both had 6 points off the bench.

Maine (16-10, 8-3 AE) head on the road for their next three games as they begin the trip on Thursday, Feb. 20 against UAlbany. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
