Albany, NY – The University of Maine men's basketball team fell at UAlbany on Thursday night.

The Black Bears wasted little time building up an early lead as they lead 13-4 heading into the opening media timeout following a steal and layup from
Jaden Clayton.

Maine pushed their lead up to double-digits at 19-9 before UAlbany went on a 13-3 run to tie it up at 22-22 with 5:17 remaining in the first half.

UAlbany grabbed a brief lead before the Black Bears were able to retake it heading into half as the score stood at 31-28 in favor of Maine.

Christopher Mantis led the way in scoring as he had 8 points on 50% shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers.

Kellen Tynes and Clayton each had 2 steals in the first half while combining for 15 points.

Maine opened up the second half on a 10-4 run before UAlbany tied up the contest at 45-45 and took the lead at 12:09 remaining in the second half.

The Black Bears got to within one point on multiple occasions down the stretch, but were unable to retake the lead as the Great Danes grabbed the win, 79-68.

Lopez finished a team-high 17 points while Mantis finished with 13 points off the bench.

Quion Burns and Clayton both had 10 points.

Maine (16-11, 8-4 AE) continues their three-game road trip at Binghamton on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
