Ruston, LA – The University of Maine baseball team was swept on Saturday in the double header at LA Tech.

Game One of DH:

Black Bears Scoring Breakdown:

Quinn Murphy knocked in his first collegiate RBI as he hit a single through the right side of the infield as he drove in Payton Whitehead (1B) for the first run of the game.

Damon Gaither plated a run in the seventh inning as hit a single down the right field line, scoring Whitehead (E6).

Caleb Leys returned to the mound after 623 days since his last appearance in the Coral Gables Regional in 2023. Leys turned in 3 innings of work in the start, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 3 walks and 1 strikeout.

Jason Libby (0-1) took over on the mound for his Black Bears debut to start the fourth inning. Libby pitched 4 innings in relief, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Pierce Friedman made his Black Bear debut in relief as he lasted 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Gianni Gambardella made his season debut in the bottom of the sixth, allowing 1 walk and striking out 1 in 2/3 innings of relief.
