ORONO, Maine -- For the ninth time in her career, and the second time this season,
Adrianna Smith has been named the America East Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Smith shares this week's aware with New Hampshire's Eva DeChent who averaged 27.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Wildcats.
Smith's reverse layup at the final buzzer propelled Maine to a 59-57 road win at Harvard on Sunday. In the win, Smith tallied 21 points to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The 20 point performance marked her sixth, 20+ point output of the year and extended her double-digit scoring streak to eight games.
Through 13 games this season, Smith currently is the only player in the league who is averaging a double-double as she ranks second in the America East in scoring (18.4), is first in rebounding (10.0). Smith is second among league leaders in assists (4.6) and has posted a league-high seven double-doubles and one triple-double.
Smith and the Black Bears return to action on Jan. 1 when they travel to meet UMass Lowell in the America East opener for both teams.
