Adrianna Smith named finalist for Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year

Smith one of five finalists, winner announced on April 1

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine forward Adrianna Smith has been named a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats.

Smith joins Blanca Millan (2021) as the second Maine student-athlete named a finalist for the award. Maine joins three other programs as the only schools with multiple different players named a finalist at least once.

A two-time America East Player of the Year and three-time first team all-conference honoree, Smith leads the America East in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Out of the five finalists, Smith ranks second in points per game (22.7), second in rebounding (10.9), and first in assists (4.8). She has posted 19 double-double, including in 10-straight games, and is currently only the eighth player in NCAA Division I women's basketball since 1982 to average 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 4.0+ assists in a season. She is also just the fourth player in history to record 700+ points, 300+ rebounds, and 140+ assists in a single season. After tallying her 1,000th rebound earlier this year, she became the only player (male or female) in America East history to reach 1,000 points, 1,00 rebounds, and 400 assists in a career.

Smith, who has posted double-digit scoring efforts in 30 of Maine's 31 games, has produced 20 or more points 21 times and registered 30 or more points in five games. She was named the America East Player of the Week seven times this season.
