Justin Poirier has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league.

Poirier led Hockey East in points and goals over the weekend, recording three goals and adding two assist for five points in Maine's sweep of Boston University.

On Friday night, Poirier had two goals and one assist while firing three shots on goal. The Valleyfield, Quebec native recorded the primary assist on
Brandon Holt's overtime game-winning goal. Saturday night, the freshman scored one goal and added an assist while firing five shots on goal. He finished the weekend with a plus-2 rating.

This marks the second Rookie of the Week honor this season for Poirier.
