Women's Basketball announces two additions for 2026-27

Orono, Maine – University of Maine head women's basketball coach Amy Vachon has announced the addition of two student-athletes to the 2026 recruiting class.

 

Ayla Corrigale (5'7" guard) and Ava Sewall (5'9" guard) will join the Black Bears' roster in the fall of 2026.

 

"We are very excited to announce the signings of Ava and  Ayla," said Vachon. "Both are amazing young women who will add to our program on and off the court."

 

Ayla Corrigale

5-7 // Guard // Orangeville, Ontario (Orangeville Secondary)

  • First-Team All-Star honoree for Team Ontario (2024)
  • Averaged 12 points, six assists, three steals in 2024-25
  • Named high school region MVP
  • Team Ontario participant for three seasons
  • Team Ontario bronze, silver, and gold medalist
  • Captain in 2025-26

"Ayla is a true point guard. She sees the floor very well and plays with a little flair that is fun to watch. She has a high basketball IQ and competes every possession." - Coach Vachon


 

Ava Sewall

5-9 // Guard // Annandale, Va. (Annandale High School and The Potomac School)

  • Through three seasons, averaged 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 steals, 1.1 blocks
  • First-Team All-ISL (2024-25)
  • First-Team All-District and Second Team All-Region (2023-24)
  • Second-Team All-District and Freshman Team All-District (2022-23)


"Ava is a strong guard who can play a variety of positions. She is a great shooter and can score at all three levels. Ava is also a strong and versatile defender." - Coach Vachon
