Bulldogs, Black Bears battle to 1-1 tie at New Balance Soccer Complex

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team battled Bryant to 1-1 tie on Thursday night in the first-ever collegiate contest the New Balance Soccer Complex.
 
Hilary Washington put Maine up less than three minutes into the contest, tucking a shot from 20 yards out inside the far-left post. The Bulldogs then responded in the 68th minute, cleaning up a loose ball off of a corner kick.
 
The Black Bears kept searching for a game-winning goal – out shooting the Bulldogs 12-3 in the second half – but couldn't find the back of the net over the final 30 minutes.
 
NOTES
  • The Black Bears had the 18-6 lead in shots and a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • Bryant had the 6-2 lead in corner kicks.
  • Elena Barenberg made two saves and moved to 1-1-1 on the year.
  • Hilary Washington scored her first career goal with her third-minute strike.
  • Emma Nicholson recorded her second assist of the season.
  • Maine is now 10-3-2 in the all-time series with Bryant.
  • Washington and Rebecca Grisdale played the full 90 minutes for the Black Bears.
