ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over UMBC on Sunday afternoon at the New Balance Soccer Complex.

The Black Bears held a 12-3 lead in shots over the Retrievers after the first half but were unable to convert on any chances. Maine continued to hold the edge in the second half and
Britta Denny scored her first career goal in the 68th minute.
Emma Nicholson connected a pass across the box for Denny to finish into the wide-open net.
Julie Lossius then finished a pass from Nicholson in the 79th minute to give the game its 2-0 final.

- Maine had the 23-6 lead in shots … the Black Bears had an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.
- The Retrievers had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
- Elena Barenberg made three saves to move to 2-3-2 on the year and earn her second shutout of the season.
- Maine is now 15-6-2 in the all-time series with UMBC.
