LOWELL, Mass. – The University of Maine women's soccer team battled back twice to earn a 2-2 tie against UMass Lowell on Thursday night at Cushing Field.
 
The River Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, holding that edge through the start of the second half. In the 57th minute, Grace Johnson scored her first career goal when she curled in a deep ball from 45 yards out.
 
After UMass Lowell retook the lead in the 77th minute, the Black Bears responded yet again six minutes later. Meghan Bernetti sent a long ball into the box which Victoria Dungey headed down for a finish from Jordane Pinette.
 
Neither team scored over the final seven minutes of play for the 2-2 final.

• UMass Lowell had the 11-10 edge in shots and a 9-5 lead in shots on goal.
• The River Hawks had a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.
• Elena Barenberg made a career-high seven saves to move to 1-3-2 on the year.
• Maine is now 9-4-2 in the all-time series with UMass Lowell.
• Grace Johnson scored her first career goal.
• Jordane Pinette scored her first goal of the season.
• Olivia Grisdale, Abbey Thornton, Luise Reinwald and Meghan Bernetti all played 90 minutes for Maine … that marks a career-high for Grisdale and Thornton.
• Bernetti picked up her first assist of the season while Victoria Dungey recorded her team-leading third.
