DURHAM, N.H. --
Caroline Dotsey's career-high 30 point night helped guide Maine to a 65-54 win at New Hampshire on Thursday evening. The win, Maine's ninth in a row over the Wildcats, stretched the Black Bears' current win streak to four-straight.
Dotsey, who registered 23 of her game-high 30 points in the first half, finished the night 11-for-20 with a pair of triples and a 6-of-8 showing from the free throw stripe.
Caroline Bornemann and
Asta Blauenfeldt each chipped in eight points in the victory.
Maine's defense, which forced 13 turnovers in the win, limited the Wildcats to just 16-of-54 (29.6) from the floor.
In a recent trend, the Black Bears again opened the game on fire as they hit 8-of-12 from the floor in the opening quarter.
An 8-0 run, Maine's largest run of the game, midway through the first quarter quickly built a nine point advantage for the Black Bears. Back-to-back buckets from Dotsey concluded the sprint as Maine's lead would stand at 13-4 with 3:39 left in the opening stanza.
After UNH closed the gap back down to four, a late jumper in the quarter from Dotsey gave Maine a 17-11 edge after one.
The Wildcats opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run to jump on top, 18-17, with 8:11 left in the half.
The teams would trade the lead five times over the next three minutes before a 5-0 Maine run, keyed by a triple from
Olivia Rockwood, put the visitors on top by four.
UNH fought back to tie the game late in the second quarter before Maine ended the half on a 5-0 run, with all five points coming from Dotsey, to carry a 35-30 advantage into the half.
The Black Bears concluded the half 15-30 from the floor with 23 of its 35 points coming from Dotsey.
The lead hovered around five for the majority of the third before Blauenfeldt's triple started an 8-1 run. Buckets from Bornemann and Dotsey followed as Maine took its first double-digit lead of the night, 55-45, with less than 30 seconds remaining in the third.
Leading by nine in the fourth,
Paula Gallego's triple started an 8-0 run which gave Maine its largest lead of the night, 65-48, with 1:24 on the clock.
Maine cruised down the stretch, securing the 65-54 road win to move to 6-2 in America East play.
The Black Bears return to action on Saturday when they host Vermont at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last season's America East Championship game.
