Van de Leest's 3-point game lifts Maine past Harvard

Adriana van de Leest scored two goals and assisted the game-winner in Maine's 3-2 win.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team downed Harvard University 3-2 in overtime on Friday at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Adriana van de Leest's three-point performance, and Lily Fetch's game-winner lifted Maine to victory.  

Harvard struck first about halfway through the first period, but the Black Bears responded minutes later with two goals to take the lead. Adriana van de Leest's first goal was unassisted on a breakaway opportunity to tie up the score. Two minutes later, van de Leest found the back of the net again on the powerplay. Lily Fetch earned the assist.

The second period went scoreless, and Harvard was able to tie up the game early in the third period. 

Just 32 seconds into the overtime period, Lily Fetch sniped the game-winner, off a pass from Adriana van de Leest and Elise Morphy.

Goaltender Julia Bachetti made 20 saves between the pipes for the Black Bears.

Maine killed off 3-for-3 penalties.
