Women’s Basketball Head Coach Amy Vachon to be Honored by Girl Scouts of Maine at Pearls of Wisdom Event

ORONO, Maine — University of Maine women's basketball coach, Amy Vachon, will be honored by Girl Scouts of Maine (GSME) with the Juliette Award at this year's Pearls of Wisdom luncheon.

This annual event is an opportunity for GSME to celebrate an exceptional woman within the Greater Bangor community where we serve more than 535 Girl Scouts.

"Recognizing Amy at this year's Pearls of Wisdom is a testament to her outstanding leadership and influence. The Juliette Award is given to a woman of integrity who has made a difference in her community and is a role model for girls. Amy's commitment to women's sports and education at the University of Maine sets a powerful example for young women everywhere. We are excited to celebrate her remarkable contributions to our community," says GSME CEO, Mara Robinov-Moorhead.

Currently, in her seventh season as head coach of the Black Bears, Vachon has guided her basketball team both athletically and academically. Year after year, Vachon's female athletes produce one of the highest overall GPAs in the Athletics department at UMaine. With a passion for leadership on and off the court, the five-time America East Coach of the Year honoree is a highly deserving recipient of this year's Juliette Award.

Past awardees include former Bangor City Councilor Angela Okafor, Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce President Deb Neuman, Dean of the College of Business and NESCom at Husson University Marie Hansen, Former Maine State Chamber CEO Julia Munsey, Former Maine State Senator Emily Cain, and other outstanding recipients.
