ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team topped Saint Joseph's, 16-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the UMaine Softball Complex.

How it Happened

• After a scoreless first inning by both teams, the Black Bears put four runs on the board in the second thanks to a single from Keira Inman and doubles from Kyli Hernandez and Krista Francia.
• A two-run home run from Anna Margetis started off a five-run frame for Maine in the third.
• Saint Joseph's got on the board in the top of the fourth with Maine holding a 9-1 lead after four.
• The Black Bears then went on to add four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

 Game Notes

• Maine finished with a season-high 14 hits.
• Anna Margetis had a team-leading three hits on the day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored.
• Kyli Hernandez (2-for-2), Krista Francia (2-for-3), and Caitlyn Fallon (2-for-4) all had multi-hit games with Hernandez and Francia registering doubles.
• Lexi Corcoran registered her first career hit.
• Katie Jo Moery (1-for-3) and Hernandez had two RBI each.
• Alysen Rieth started, going 2.0 innings while allowing no runs and one hit … Isabelle True threw 2.0 innings in relief, giving up one run on four hits with three strikeouts … Kaly Thomas threw 3.0 innings of no-hit relief while walking two and striking out one.
