LOWELL, Mass. – The University of Maine dropped two America East contests at UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon at River View Field.

How it Happened

The River Hawks pushed three runs across in the bottom of the first inning … an infield single scored the first run and then a single to left field and subsequent fielding error brought in two more.
The first batter of the inning reached for the Black Bears in the third, fifth and seventh innings … Maine ended the game with five runners left on base.

Game Notes

Anna Margetis was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles … Kennedy Priest reached base twice on two walks … Gabby Papushka reached base twice on one walk and a throwing error.
Margetis and Priest both reached base safely for the fifth consecutive game.
Fallon started in the circle, going 6.0 innings while giving up three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts … Fallon kept the River Hawks scoreless over the final five innings.

How it Happened

After a scoreless first inning for both teams, the River Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second … a double and single set up a sacrifice fly and then a single to center scored two more.
Maine scratched a run across in the top of the fourth as Kyrah Haba-Dailey earned a bases-loaded walk to score Gabby Papushka.
UMass Lowell went up 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a close play at home.
Katie Jo Moery doubled in the top of the fifth and then came around on a Papushka single … Caitlyn Fallon then singled home Papushka to make it a 4-3 game.
Maine left two runners on base in the fifth and sixth innings and one in the seventh.

Game Notes

Caitlyn Fallon went 3-for-4 while Katie Jo Moery was 2-for-4, with both picking up their seventh multi-hit games of the season.
Moery hit her ninth double of the season and scored one run while Fallon had one RBI.
Gabby Papushka was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Alysen Rieth started, going 3.1 innings while allowing four runs – three earned – on six hits with three walks and one strikeout … Kaly Thomas threw 2.2 innings of two-hit, scoreless relief.
