Orono, ME - The University of Maine baseball team was defeated by Rider on Saturday afternoon, 9-8.
First Pitch: 1 P.M. (9-8 Rider)
Second Inning: Rider scored the opening run of the afternoon on a sac-fly to center field.
Colin Plante tied the contest up in the bottom of the frame as he singled to center field, scoring Jake Marquez (2B).
Third Inning: Zach Martin put the Black Bears in front as he singled to center field, scoring Will Burns (1B).
Jack Friend made it 3-1 as he scored Jeremiah Jenkins (1B) on a fielder's choice play to shortstop.
Fourth Inning: Rider hit a three-run home run to right field to make it 4-3.
Fifth Inning: Ryan Scott began the fifth frame on the mound for Maine. Jason Krieger allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, 6 walks and 4 strikeouts across his 4 innings pitched.
Jeremiah Jenkins made it a 4-4 game as he hit a no-doubt home run to right field for his 14th home run of the season.
Sixth Inning: Rider scored two unearned runs in the frame to take a 6-4 lead.
Seventh Inning: Rider plated their seventh run of the game on a solo home run to right field.
Jake Marquez tied up the contest at 7-7 as he hit a bases-clearing double to left field, scoring Jenkins (BB), Martin (1B) and Friend (HBP).
Eighth Inning: Rider plated two runs in the eighth on a double to center field.
Maine got one run back on a groundout by Connor Goodman that scored Tyler Annis (BB).
Ninth Inning: Blaine Cockburn was called on to begin the ninth inning for Maine on the mound. Scott allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Cockburn allowed no runs in the ninth on 3 walks.
Maine (8-25) wraps up the weekend series against Rider on Sunday, April 21. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
