Smithfield, RI - The University of Maine baseball team shutout Bryant in the series finale on Sunday to pick up their first America East victory.

Seventh Inning: Maine scored the first run of the afternoon as Dean O'Neill hit an RBI single to left center, scoring Zach Martin (1B).
Eighth Inning: Noah Lewis began the eighth frame on the mound for Maine. Luc Lavigueur turned in his best outing as a Black Bear as he went 7 shutout innings in his first collegiate start, allowing just 4 hits, 1 walk and striking out 6, including 5 of the last 6 batters he faced on the afternoon.
Lewis lasted just one batter as he was pulled following a leadoff walk, bringing on Colton Carson with one runner on and no one out.
Carson retired all six batters he faced, picking up four strikeouts as he picked up his first save of the season to help lead Maine to a 1-0 shutout victory.
Lavigueur picks up his first win of the season as the Black Bears grab their first conference victory of the season.
Maine (3-16, 1-2 AE) returns home for a pair of midweek games on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27. Both games are set to begin at 4 P.M.
