Rock Hill, SC - The University of Maine baseball team lost both matchups in a doubleheader against Winthrop on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1: First Pitch 1 P.M. (8-0 Winthrop)

Fifth Inning: Winthrop scored the opening run of the game on a throwing error and a second run on a single.

Eighth Inning: Colton Carson was called on in relief midway through the inning. Gianni Gambardella turned in a solid outing across his first 7 innings of work, but got tagged with some runs left on to end his day. He allowed five runs (4 earned) on 10 hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.

Winthrop plated six runs in the frame.

Carson allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 strikeout in his inning of work.

Winthrop came away with the victory, 8-0.

Game 2: First Pitch 5:10 P.M. (10-3 Winthrop)

Fourth Inning: Winthrop plated two runs on a double, scored one on a wild pitch and another on a single.

Sixth Inning: Chase Trolaro picked up his first collegiate hit and RBI as he hit a single to center field, scoring Jeph Hadson-Taylor (BB/SB).

Tyler Nielsen began the sixth inning on the mound for Maine. Jason Krieger allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts across his 5 innings of work.

Luc Lavigueur was called on after Nielsen faced just three batters in the frame. Nielsen hit two batters and recorded one out in ⅓ innings of work, allowing 1 run.

Winthrop plated one run on a single to left field.
