Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey (11-16-2, 7-13-2 HE) team was defeated by Merrimack College (9-16-3, 6-12-3 HE) on Saturday by a score of 1-2.

With just under two minutes remaining, Maine pulled their goalie for an extra-skater advantage but struggled to get a puck past Merrimack's goalie Calli Hogarth.
Fifth-year forward
Ida Kuoppala scored Maine's lone goal, her 18th of the season, in the first period to put the Black Bears on the board first. Black Bears'Â netminder
Jorden Mattison made 11 saves on 13 shots.Â
Maine was 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and 0-for-3 on the power play.
